Issue 1 - Missoni Pillows & Vintage Ralphie
Plus, my final SSENSE purchase before the arrival of tariffs.
Hi!
This is the first issue of Going Broke—an endeavor to show you the clothing I’m buying, resisting, and helping people source.
It’s one of my favorite things to scour the internet for a deal, or a specific item. I famously (in my mind) searched for a pair of Vivienne Westwood horns for 3 years, only to find gold ones on Ebay for what I thought was a steal—turns out they were fake. I realized this months later when I visited World’s End in London and saw what a real pair look like. A devastating blow to my ego.
Things that I like right now:
Kule “The Quinn” button up. I find this brand too expensive for what it is but both times I got this shirt it was on sale for ~$149 (regular $248).
Added to my modest Hysteric Glamour collection with this bear sweater. It was listed for months and I made an offer.
I recently found out that Yohji Yamamoto’s daughter has her own clothing line called Limi Feu. I bought this shirt for $110 on Depop, which isn’t too bad if you look around the resale market. Lots of great stuff from the brand on Ebay too.
I really like Missoni pillows and I’ve now spent $400 on them. I told my friend Delphine and she said: “That’s where I draw the line.” Anyway here are the pillows, I got this one on The Real Real and the one seen below on Ebay. TRR has good pillows and blankets and stuff fyi.
This also isn’t about fashion but I really like my humidifier and 2 people have now bought it after my rec.
One of the reasons I still have to live is SSENSE. The moment I read that there will be tariffs on imports from Canada, and that my favorite source of fashion discovery (and sales) would be getting more expensive, I was so fucking mad. I know very little about tariffs, so someone tell me if my plug will be affected. Here’s a last minute purchase from my wishlist that I decided to make before they’re imposed on February 1st—these MM6 slides for $353 (regular price $570).

Open questions:
I can’t figure out if I like the new Louis Vuitton Murakami collab. It’s obviously good because they’re basically recreations from 2003 (more in this article about the history of LV Murakami), but it feels like a cash grab? All this stuff already exists on the secondary market, and it’s even better because it has patina.
I’m going to Nashville and I’m wondering if I need these cow hide Adidas.
Things that I’m resisting buying:
I really want a Louis Vuitton BB Bandeau—I want to wear it like a headband and tie it around my ponytail. I don’t know where the desire came from but I feel like Leighton Meester had something to do with it. I’m waiting this one out because I feel like I’ll forget it soon.
Everything else on my SSENSE wishlist, seen below.
Looking high and low:
A friend is getting married and she’s thinking her rehearsal dinner will be a bluegrass night. Here are her requests.
Ralph Lauren, vintage
Skirt or dress (no suits, although I think I could probably find something cool)
Fall in Pennsylvania
Budget is rip nuts
Here’s what I found:
This vintage Ralph Lauren Collection Purple Label beaded and embroidered dress from 2011.

Two corsets, the first is Purple Label (seen on the left) and the second is Blue label. Plus, this perfect beaded top seen on the right.
There’s also this gorgeous simple slip, this more formal gold skirt (look at the back), this beautiful fairy-like Couture dress if we want to lean into the country, and this floral dress that probably isn’t bride enough but I love it.
Wild card item: this patchwork skirt.
these cow hide adidas are nutsssssss, i love them
Omg new couch alert!!!!!! Love the color
