Hi to my new subscribers! Let’s spend all our money, together, as we whirl ourselves into the abyss.
Things I like right now:
I got a tattoo last week and the artist was wearing a cashmere bandana tied around her head. It was the coolest thing ever. This is the closest I’ve come to finding it. I was too scared to ask her where she got it. I should text her.
This fragrance by Binaurale, Petal Jus, is divine. The top notes are peony, tuberose, and nectar, the middle notes are vinyl and condensed milk (I know but trust me), and the base is musk and tonka. I’m telling you guys this is something special.
Not enough people are wearing Pumas. Why is that? These are really good. So are these. Should I get some?
This post in r/mensfashion. 😁
Pamela Anderson wearing a crisp white blouse over the years. She’s on par with Chloe Sevigny when it comes to effortless cool, and I will die on this hill. I forget who wrote it but there was an article a few years back about how Chloe’s It girl appeal came from her hair being undone, and I think Pam has the same vibe. It’s even more heightened now that she doesn’t wear makeup.
Things I’m resisting buying:
This one is really tempting and I might not be strong enough to resist. This Jean Paul Gaultier bondage sweater is to die. It looks like a rib cage meets a straight jacket meets a classic JPG bateau top.
This gold Paco Rabanne chunky chain bracelet as seen on Leandra Medine. The silver is good too.
After closing it’s New York flagship store in 2023, Stüssy is ba-aaaack.
This colorblock turtleneck from Tory Burch that reminds me of a color combination from La Senza Girl. The Fairview location was the site of countless pre-teen meltdowns for me. Sidenote, I think I had this exact top.
Looking high and low:
My friend Claire is a dramatic Kibbe body type (I know this because looking at her is like looking in a mirror, and I know my Kibbe type). Turtlenecks and asymmetry look good on dramatics. And for those wondering, Beaufille is a Canadian brand created by sisters Chloé and Parris Gordon—I used to go to their Toronto Fashion Week shows and it was always a highlight.
When I first started searching I found this top on SSENSE—it’s Beaufille, shirred, ruffled, asymmetric, and sort of a turtleneck. It comes in black, and there’s a matching skirt. It’s $660 regular price (ouch) but I found it in white for almost half price.
I thought I might find it on VSP Consignment (best consignment store in Toronto imo), but to no avail. If that isn’t the top, at least I found a few other cute tops during my search. Open wide!
Option 1: EENK Tol Shirred Turtleneck, $200. No asymmetry here, but a nice shirred turtleneck.
Option 2: Issey Miyake Chiffon Twist Turtleneck, $395. Trading in shirred for chiffon. Here’s a gorgeous white option for only $85, and a black sleeveless one for $200.
Option 3: Helmut Lang Wind Top, $295. This one comes in a bunch of cool colors and there’s a sleeveless option too. It reminds me of the Vivienne Westwood Hebo Top, which I have and love.
Wild card item: Claire, you would also look so good in this, and this. Rick Owens is your friend too, like this cool knotted top, or this oil slick one (if this is sold by the time you read this, there’s a good chance I bought it).
