Issue 8 - A 12-year-old made the necklace I want from The White Lotus
Plus, 5 things Nic Marna is buying.
Psychologist Richard Wiseman explored the concept of luck and found that it’s basically a self-fulfilling prophesy. If you think you’re lucky, you’re going to experience more luck. So I’m going to say it again; I have divine fashion timing.
A few weeks ago I was writing about Prada bowling bags and now I am the proud owner of one in near perfect condition. It popped up for a good price on Whatnot from one of my favorite sellers, Aarchive.
**I don't chase, I attract. Good clothes are flowing to me. What bags belong to me will simply find me.**

Things I like:
Charlotte Le Bon wore this Maggie Simpson necklace in episode 6 of White Lotus season 3 and I needed to find it. Thank god for Reddit, where I learned that “the 12-year-old daughter of a friend of the costume designer of the show (Alex Bovaird) made the necklace.” Her name is Lily June, and she’s going to be making 50 limited edition necklaces soon (you have to DM her mom to reserve one).
This LIMI feu 2-way scarf I just got. It’s like a half sweater with one sleeve and it comes with a huge safety pin that you can use to make it any shape you want.

Should I get this dumb head scarf?
Printemps is 100% worth seeing. Laura Gonzalez designed the massive store that includes a mind blowing room with 13,000 square feet of gold and red mosaic tiles. Clothing selection was kind of sparse but good, and they need to make a jewelry section—but design was A++.
Discovered The Falls while at Printemps—the brand is by Leong On and every piece is 1 for 1. He recycles vintage garments and reworks them with really nice beading and embroidery.

Things I’m resisting buying:
This big frilly bag by Simone Rocha. I’d never wear it but I want it just the same.
These tabi deer print slip ons from Worst Case. Apparently they can take a while to ship, but on the other hand they come with free fuzzy socks.
Things Nic wants:
Nic Marna (writer, fast-walker, and shit-talker) is the bag connoisseur in the aforementioned article about Prada bags. He has good taste and he wants a lot of nice things, like me. He recently sent me a link to a bag so beautiful that I asked him to share a few other items he’s looking to buy this spring.
A stick of butter bag
When I look at my closet, I see a sea of blue and red. I’ve over-indexed on two of the three primary colours and need to course correct. Enter: a pale yellow bag.
I’m not sure where I first heard about this brand or this specific bag, but it’s been the itch at the back of my brain for months. Le-Febour sells handmade goods out of Toronto and their Everything Bag is so popular they have to do monthly inventory drops with presale codes––the Eras Tour for bagaholic people who are only sustained by the odd, “oh my god I love your bag!” from strangers.
Headgear
My head has been shaved for about two years now. I really like it, but I never considered how it would impact my outfit balance. Sometimes I love what I’m wearing from the shoulders down and the neck up being so bare ruins it, makes it feel off.
My fix has been hats, glasses (randomly tips the scales too), and scarves. For spring I want to expand my bandana collection. This is inspired by Recho Omondi from The Cutting Room Floor who always wears a brown one (which is first on my list). I’m also obsessed with Kent Monkman’s Miss Chief’s Fanny Flags, but $150 for four scarves I think are not meant to be worn might be too crazy.
Mx. Mary Jane
I love a bitchy shoe. A shoe that announces your arrival, a shoe that does all the talking, a shoe that my podiatrist friend would fucking hate.
I’ve been saying I want Mary Janes for years now, and my absolute favourites are the Hereu Alber T-bar Loafer. Handmade in Spain with gorgeous leather and the right kind of curb appeal (here I’m reimagining the term curb appeal to exemplify how much I want to stomp around the sidewalk in these shoes).
Pants!
My friend recently moved to LA and went to the by-appointment-only store No Maintenance. They do Americana and Japanese inspired pieces, and I’ve been very intrigued by them for some time. He sent me photos of everything he tried on and I was floored by these pants. They have zippers running up the pant leg so you can make them flare, baggy, straight, or a combination of the three.
Switching up your pants as the day goes on? Well, yes. Sorry if I like a little drama!
All you need is a light jacket
If you could see the amount of jackets I own, you’d think I’m unwell for saying I don’t have a wearable light jacket. Spring means layers that aren’t bulky and don’t give you pit stains, but I’m ill-equipped! I need the short equivalent of a trench coat (not a short trench coat, I’m not that much of a Ganni girl).
My heart is pulling me into a nautical direction, something a Kennedy wife would borrow from her husband to go sailing. Something like this, or this, or even this.
In a different vein, the Tefnut Beach Jacket from Kotn feels right and Prada Sport-esque to me (the entire Tefnut collection is really nice).
I’ve also wanted a piece from Libero forever, and this jacket is exquisite and it being sold out makes my wallet happy.
Note: As I sat down to write this, I remembered a jacket I had seen from GAP that was a little denim hoodie situation and I figured I should finally pull the trigger only to find it sold out. Learn from this! Add to cart!
Need a prada bowling bag so bad…. Wow
